#90272 Atmospheric River #Deluge: Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017

Dateline: Between approximately 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Pacific Palisades, the third round (at least) of the anticipated Atmospheric River event brought a heavy downpour of rain that caused runoff and some flooding along Sunset Blvd. in the village.  Here are the photos and videos:

In the lower left corner of the photo below, is a Havaianas sandal lost by a lady crossing Sunset Blvd. at Swarthmore from west to east.  I had just crossed ahead of her in the opposite direction and my tennis shoes were soaked from the near one foot deep deluge of water running along the curb along Sunset in the direction of Norris Hardware, etc...  I was able to observe said sandal which about 100 feet later got pushed off to the side of the tide.  When I returned 10 - 15 minutes later it was still there and during a long break in the traffic I retrieved it and placed it on the walk signal button box at Swarthmore (see photos below)...

x-ref: Trademark Trivia:  HAVIANAS® is a registered trademark for sandals, etc....  just sayin'...

Happy Ending for this Havaianas sandal!... successfully rescued from the flood waters and now perched on top of the walk button at Swarthmore and Sunset.....

Fourth of July 2014 In Pacific Palisades....

The annual parade was especially good this year.

It all began, as usual, with a team of skydivers parachuting onto Sunset Blvd!... and here's our video of them as they arrive from up above...

And Then There Was One...

An eventful morning today.  A photo shoot and then one of the twins flew the nest and is gone on to lead a life of its own...  One baby dove remains for mama dove to tend to.  Here is the story in photos, in sequence...

These two baby doves, born on April 6, 2014, were just waking up earlier this morning and before their mom flew off to gather some food for them for breakfast...

And then mama dove returns and breakfast begins...

The meal completed, mama dove tucks her two babies under her and lets them rest after that big meal...

 

Stay tuned...  these two young doves are going to be ready to fly within the week and then they will be gone doing what kids do after high school and college... making a life of their own.  

This mama dove or another one will return in a month or so and lay more eggs if the annual routine continues.
