Dateline: Sunday, January 14, 2018, Pacific Palisades, California.
As we previously posted back in 2009, our beloved community pool was filled with dirt by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.
Here are photos I took this afternoon of this continuing horror story:
This legacy recreational facility should be returned to its original purpose. The value of an aquatics program for the constituents and beneficiaries of the SMMC's mission is obvious, e.g., in Southern California, knowing how to swim is a critical life skill. Kids from the inner city that are brought to this property to learn about nature and to hike could also be taught to swim. Renting the facility out to private groups could also bring in revenue for the SMMC.
